Hey everybody -- if you happen to be in the vicinity of Rockport, MA, tomorrow, stop in at the Rockport Community House for Fiber-Craft Day. Should be a great time!
But the big news is that today I finished my first knitted project, a hat!
It was my first time following a pattern, my first time knitting something that won't be machine felted, and my first time knitting in the round on circular needles.
I had two failed attempts at knitting on circular needles earlier this week. I had one false start last night on the hat and ripped it out in row two.
Then the next attempt worked. I knitted last night and this morning and it took 3.5 hours to finish a simple ribbed hat for my older son. I messed up the ribbing on one row, so the rib jogs over a couple of stitches at one point, but since the yarn is variagated, it doesn't show too much, and will serve well for a boys hat.
I also learned some lessons from it so the next hat, for my younger son, will be better.
DH is asking for one in a color yarn and a softer yarn, so that will require a trip to the LYS.
I just had to share it. I hope to photograph it and blog it soon.
Now I'm not as afraid to go on to try to knit something else from a pattern.

Oh you will be so proud of me!
I can't blog it yet as the photos are not ready.
