the big catch-up

Whoa. Yeah, it's been a while. Hold on tight and I'll do a quick summary of what's been going on 'round here. It's been a wild ride.

Leah finished sewing another historic gown, attended another vintage ball, danced all night. Dinner at Ethiopian restaurant first. Yum.

Scott and Jesse spent a few days in Delaware for Red Glare rocketry event (just like the one last fall).

Scott and his buddies went camping/fishing for the annual weekend festivities for opening day of trout season.

Leah took a pottery class. Had fun with her first attempts on a wheel.

Kitchen electrical work done and appliances delivered. Scott's in the process of sheetrocking. Cabinet installation scheduled in a couple of weeks.

Kids and I saw the orchid show at New York Botanical Garden. Haven't been there since 2006. The place is super cool.

I moved out, got my own apartment. Not easy, but it was time. We're all adjusting.

Leah and I spent a weekend in New Jersey for Costume-Con. She won an award for one of the outfits she sewed.

Ireland 4/11

Spent a week in Ireland. Stunningly beautiful. Totally mellow. Click through for the photo album. Giant's Causeway!

Why did you move out? I thought you had such a happy family.

Hi Anonymous -- Sorry I don't know who you are, so I can't reply to you directly. Yup, happy in many ways, not so much in others. The not so much part grew to the point where I felt like I needed to do something about it. Still happy in many, many ways AND happy to no longer be struggling with an aspect of our lives that wasn't working. We still have lots of things to work out, but at least we're no longer spinning our tires.

I can't stop looking at that orchid...

I used to live in Ireland, and miss its unique landscape. Looks like you enjoyed it, too!

Sounds like you are going through big changes. I'm sending out good thoughts to you, but I have a feeling you've got things working in the direction you want them. Good luck!

I wish you the best Debbie. My brother and I were about the same ages as Jesse and Leah when my mom moved out and got her own place. It was tough at first but years later it's so nice to see them happy - and we still ARE a family and get together as one, even though they both went on to marry other people. You will all work it out on your own terms.

Hope to see you soon! I was going to email/text you when CT Sheep and Wool came around but my plans were so up in the air....

I am always just amazed at Leah's talents. Wow.

And Wow. I had no idea all of this was going on, but then - I'm a bloggy friend. Isn't that weird? But I feel like I still have a right to say that I really and truly wish you and your family all the best. Really. You are such an inspiration for me and you always find something nice and sometimes very funny to say to me on my posts.

I just hope you're happy. Whatever happens - I hope you find happiness because - even though we're connected by a this strange bloggy thing - I KNOW you deserve it.

Ps. Ireland!? You went to Ireland? What the . . . .

Deb, sending you <3.
Your Ireland pics are great! Love the Cahir and Dunluce castles. Love the dolmen shot on the Burren. I will have to visit Giant's causeway next time I go. :o)
Hope I get to see you soon.
